O DLC inclui dois novos mapas, Liberation que é baseado em uma parque de New York e  Piazza que é baseado em uma vila Italiana.

Na história controlamos um garoto de 12 anos de idade que um dia faz uma visita à mansão-laboratório do seu tio, um excêntrico cientista e inventor, Prof. Fitz Quadwrangle. Pouco depois de sua chegada, uma explosão ocorre em virtude de uma experiência fracassada, fazendo com que o professor desapareça. O menino então descobre uma luva especial com o poder de alterar as dimensões, e decide usá-la para descobrir o que aconteceu com seu tio.

Um vídeo walkthrough com oito minutos de gameplay caiu no Youtube e mostra a mecânica do jogo. A influência de Portal é notória na form em como os puzzles devem ser descontruídos, mas ao mesmo tempo o jogo é de uma originalidade tão grande quanto o Portal (2007) da Valve.

Segundo a produtora, Shank 2 trará controles mais precisos, novas armas, inimigos mais inteligentes e uma grande quantidade de combos, mas manterá a clássica visão em duas dimensões, estilo plataforma.

O jogo ainda terá um novo modo de jogo, chamado Survival, onde o jogador deverá eliminar as ondas de inimigos que surgem na tela. Este modo de jogo ainda poderá ser jogado cooperativamente.

“RYDER WHITE” DLC FOR DEAD ISLAND™ REVEALED

DLC will be released in February 2012

16th January 2012 – Hampshire, UK/… Deep Silver today announced the upcoming release of a brand new story DLC for the award-winning game Dead Island.

This DLC offers a unique new perspective into the incidents in the main story of Dead Island: This time the player will get the chance to play as Ryder White, the antagonist of the main game; learn more about his motivations and why, from his point of view, he did what he had to do. This fresh take on the Dead Island story shows Ryder White both as a military man and a loving husband.

The DLC stars Ryder White as a newly playable character and offers a single player campaign with several hours of story content with twists and turns that will shed new light on the game’s happenings. Two blueprints and weapons will further expand the already impressive arsenal of Dead Island.

The DLC will be available on February 01, 2012 for the PlayStation®3 computer entertainment system, the Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft and Windows PC. It will be available for 800 Microsoft points on Xbox LIVE Marketplace or for £7.99 on PSN and Steam.

About Dead Island
Dead Island™, the gruesome zombie action game with RPG elements by renowned developer Techland, combines first-person action with a heavy focus on melee combat, character development and customisation of a vast array of weapons. All of these gameplay features are presented in a dark story inspired by classic zombie movies with a gritty and engrossing campaign that can be played with up to four players in co-op mode.

Set in an open world tropical island, hordes of different festering zombies await players around every corner while they embark on a variety of thrilling missions through the holiday resort. With firearms and ammunition being scarce the player must rely on discovering and utilising items as weapons for self-defense and fighting off zombie hordes in intense melee combat. Os DLCs serão novamente divididos em pistas e carros. O “Speed Test Pack” incluirá uma nova pista chamada “Special Stage Route X Oval”, revelada esta semana no vídeo do Honda NSX Concept. Já o “Car Pack 3″ incluirá 6 novos veículos ao jogo:

Entretanto, as informações acima ainda não são oficiais da Sony e por isso podem ser alteradas, por isso segure suas expectativas.

O DLC seria lançado no primeiro semestre de 2012 e teria o nome Yama No Mori – Forest of Darkness, ou apenas Dark Forest em inglês. Nenhum outro detalhe foi divulgado pela reportagem.

Se o DLC for realmente lançado, será uma grande surpresa, considerando as declarações dadas pela Namco e pela From Software. Hidetaka Miyazaki, diretor do jogo, disse na época do lançamento que a empresa não criaria nenhum conteúdo pós lançamento.

O jogo foi cotado a 800 MS Points que nos Estados Unidos custam US$10,00, acontece que na Europa esses mesmos 800 MS Points custam €$10,00 e que equivalem a algo em torno de US$12,72. Em outras palavras, na Europa o jogo custa a mesma coisa tanto na PSN quanto na XBLA, mas nos EUA acabou ocorrendo a tal diferença de valores. Como a Lexis Numérique é uma empresa francesa, obviamente os caras nem se tocaram desse “problema” com os preços na América e deu no que deu.

Para tentar solucionar isso a empresa criou uma pesquisa de opinião através do Facebook perguntando se as pessoas querem que o jogo tenha seu preço reduzido também na PSN dos EUA para $9.99. Você deve estar se perguntando agora o porque dessa pesquisa, já que é óbvio que todos querem um preço mais baixo, certo? Pelo seguinte: se a escolha for para abaixar o preço, o jogo precisará sofrer um atraso de pelo menos uma semana na PSN US devido a restrições de logística da Sony.

O Lexis Numérique… Tá de sacanagem com a gente? É claro que preferimos um jogo mais barato. Só por causa de uma semana? Que venha daqui a um mês, ninguém vai sentir falta mesmo. Seu jogo é muito interessante mas está longe de ser um must have.

AMY’S DEVELOPERS INVITE THE COMMUNITY TO DECIDE FINAL US PRICING AND RELEASE DATE WITH A POLL

Champs-sur-Marne, France – January 6th, 2012

Yesterday, VectorCell and Lexis Numérique announced the upcoming release of AMY along with the price of the game in the different territories.

While the feedback was really positive on the date and the reasonable price level of the game, some questions arose about the difference of prices in the US between the XBLA version (800 MS Points, which is the equivalent of $10) and the PSN version ($12.99).

José Sanchis, CEO of Lexis Numérique explains: “During the whole development of the game, we tried to be as transparent as possible on our decision making and we believe this situation is a good opportunity to explain what is at stake. It’s also a very good opportunity to involve the community in order to decide on the final price of the game in the US.”

He adds: “First of all, we believe AMY is probably one of the most ambitious games on the PSN and XBLA. With 8 to 10 hours of gameplay, an innovative approach to the survival horror genre and a level of graphic details rarely seen on downloadable console titles, Paul Cuisset and his team at VectorCell created a very unique game.”

“We decided to have a new approach to digital distribution by proposing heavy content at a very reasonable price because we believe price is a key issue, especially during hard economic times. Indeed, we believe AMY could have been sold a little bit higher. However, the issue we have to deal with is that a price in MS points doesn’t have the same value in all countries. Indeed, because of fluctuations between the dollar and the euro, 800 MS points are currently worth $10 in the US but €10 in Europe, which is about $12.8.”

“As we have the same price in MS Points in all countries, there will be a difference of pricing whatever decision we make between countries and/or platforms. The pricing scheme we announced enables everyone to buy the game at a reasonable price with great value for the money, with an even greater deal for the XBLA gamers who indeed have it cheaper.”

“This level of price is a tremendous effort and risk for independent teams like VectorCell and Lexis Numérique, all the more as we invested probably much more money in AMY than many console games available in digital distribution. But because we didn’t explain the situation, we understand the reaction of certain US PSN gamers who don’t understand why they should pay a little bit more than their friends who play on XBLA.”

“We even decided to go further. Now that the community has the elements to understand why we proposed this price scheme, we want to involve as many players as possible to tell us what to do with the price in the US: do we keep the current situation (800 MS Points for the XBLA version and $12.99 for the PSN version) or do we cut the price and margin for the PSN version (800 MS Points for the XBLA version and $9.99 for the PSN version).
